David Barron was Canberra Public Librarian from 1979 to 1994, and prior to that held senior positions in the National Library of Australia and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library. He was NLA Liaison Officer in London for three years and represented NLA/Australia on a number of international bodies. He was Vice-President and President of the ACT Branch of ALIA in 1982 and 1983.
